First, the choice of screen mesh number: Three factors need to be considered

1. Ink used:

(1) General water-based ink is suitable for thicker screen (125-180 mesh/inch) (inch is the length unit 1inch=1000mil=2.54cm=25.4mm);

(2) When printing solvent-based inks for advertisements, electrical appliances, etc., medium mesh (196-420 mesh/inch) are selected;

(3) UV ink adopts high mesh mesh (355-457 mesh/inch);

(4) The pigment particles of the general ink are relatively fine, the ink passability is good, and this ink can also pass well when using a high mesh number screen; Inks with high pigment concentration, although the particles are fine, their permeability is relatively poor.

2. Types of substrates:

(1) The absorbent substrate with rough surface needs more ink to achieve the ink layer coverage rate, so a thicker screen is selected;

(2) Non-absorbent substrates with smooth surfaces require relatively little ink, so a higher mesh screen is selected.

3. The mesh number of the screen matches the original image: the number of mesh mesh selected should be sufficient to match the image on the film, that is, to ensure that the thin image area has sufficient screen support. (The width of the fine line that can be printed on a certain mesh screen is equal to the sum of the aperture of the mesh and the diameter of the screen plus about 7% of the expansion during screen weaving.) ）

Second, the selection of wire diameter: two aspects must be considered (1) The tensile strength of the wire mesh. (2) The thickness of the manuscript.

1. When the mesh number is the same, the larger the wire diameter, the stronger the tensile strength, wear resistance and corrosion resistance, the larger the expected thickness, and the smaller the opening area (opening rate). When the origin size of the original image is 2 times the wire diameter, the dots may fall on the silk screen, and the dots in the highlight area are more lost. When the dot is 3 times the wire diameter, any part of the dot can be supported enough, and the dark dot can also get enough opening area.

Third, the selection of wire mesh should pay attention to the problems:

1. Uneven weaving;

2. The thickness of the wire mesh is uneven;

3. The cost of selecting silk mesh;

4. Pay attention to the turtle pattern;
